WHAT WE DO
OUR IMPACT
The Results of Tough Love
Tim Hamilton made an egregious mistake that forever changed his life—he killed his wife. After 15 years of incarceration, another life-changing opportunity presented itself when he was chosen to be a part of PEP. With this opportunity, Tim has found purpose, worth and hope. Tim Hamilton belongs to a brotherhood that has left the past behind in search of bright futures. Our graduates, like Tim, are starting businesses, re-uniting with their families and supporting themselves through legitimate work. Their experience with PEP doesn’t consist of only receiving benefits; more than 70% of our graduates are also donors to the program, while others have signed on to our employee team to contribute their skills to our mission. Dangerously Contagious The PEP experience is contagious and meaningful. Our program is merely the platform from which our volunteers can change lives, and in turn, their lives are changed. Many volunteers leave prison feeling that they took more than they gave. MBA volunteers are able to use their new education to influence lives and are inspired to use their business skills to do good. Executive volunteers are inspired that those with so little could have so much hope. They hire our graduates and give generously—keeping us 100% privately funded. Churches are finding creative ways to support both PEP and our participants while giving their congregations opportunities to live their faith. You will be hard-pressed to find a PEP volunteer whose heart and life have not been changed by the PEP experience. Success Defined Since inception, PEP has pioneered unprecedented growth and garnered national media attention. With an aggressive vision we are pressing on to further our innovative programs and staggering outcomes. However, recidivism rates are not the ultimate measure of PEP success. The real success comes from turning a tax consumer into a tax payer, a deadbeat dad into a supportive father, a societal terrorist into a community contributor, an influence of evil into a positive role model, a waste of talent into a man of realized potential. You can’t argue with those results. Building hope often begins in a dark place, but the end result offers complete life transformation. PEP has taken a chance on the unlovable, the murderer, the gang leader, and the drug dealer and witnessed miraculous metamorphosis; proof positive that punishment does not deter crime. But rebuilding the human spirit not only deters crime; it also enhances society as a whole. |
